With the financing and kickoff of construction about to take place for the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach Hotel, the project’s partners and developers turned to DCI’s public relations team to create a hospitality public relations campaign that would generate editorial coverage in key media outlets.

To accomplish this goal, DCI utilized a three-pronged approach to build awareness and convey key messages about the new hotel to target audiences.

The Challenge

Considering that the property is poised to be Miami Beach’s first major convention hotel that is adjacent to and connected to the Miami Beach Convention Center, a strong media relations push was needed to put the property top-of-mind as a premier hotel for business and leisure travelers in advance of the property’s opening.

The Solution

Identifying meeting planners and hospitality trade professionals who will ultimately book business to the new convention center hotel as the most important niche market to hear the news, DCI formulated a strategy for the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach to educate this key audience about the latest developments with the project. Press releases were distributed to these trade outlets to announce the financing and construction kickoff before and after the groundbreaking and MICE media were invited to attend the groundbreaking event. As a result, significant media coverage was generated about the project’s first major public-facing milestone in numerous hospitality and meetings publications.
